- Remove mounting angles and adjust for wall material (gypsum board or plaster) thickness
(Note "top" label for proper orientation.)
- Mount back box into wall, notching studs as required to maintain correct elevation and to allow edge of box to be flush (or set back 1/8" maximum) with finished wall surface. Caution: do not reduce box opening - minimum inside dimension must be 5".
- Box must also be accurately leveled when installed.
- Install medical station back box, remove knockout, and mount to bracket with (2) #6-32 x 3/8" long self tapping screws (as furnished). Complete medical gas system connections and test.
- Install electrical conduits and wiring for systems as required per construction plans. This should include nurse call and telephone system if required.
NOTE: If various voltages are present in the console they must be segregated from one another, and segregated from gas outlets per N.E.C. and U/L. Due to these restrictions, barriers and wireways may be provided with the console. Refer to your local codes for additional restrictions.
- Mount device chassis to box with (4) 1/4-20 x 1-1/4" long round head screws (as provided). Do not over tighten so as to distort the chassis. Be certain the locating angles are against the finished wall surface. A minor adjustment of the barriers may be required if they are not centered within the back box.
- All lighting, power and systems (nurse call, telephone, etc.) devices may now be installed according to specific job requirements. Also install medical gas "console" outlet front body as per manufacturers instruction.
- Install coverplates and fascias/end caps with #6-32 x 3/8" long flat head screws (as provided).
PSC Back Box Installation
- Secure back box assembly to steel studs at proper location and elevation with sheet metal screws (as shown in Figure 1).
- Adjust box until outside of box is flush with finished wall. Box is adjusted by loosening the four (4) #13-32 Hex washer head screws (2 in each end). Position box and retighten screws using a 3.8" wrench. See Figure 2.
