    Scope
    The contractor shall furnish and install a complete wall mounted Patient Service Console (PSC) system as indicated on the plans and specified herein.

    Codes and Standards
    The PSC shall be designed and installed in accordance with the latest edition of the following codes and standards:

    • NFPA 99 "Health Care Facilities"
    • NFPA 70 "National Electrical Code"
    Patient Service Console
    The PSC shall be PG LIFELINK Model PSC-___________________(specify number of gangs). The spacing between devices shall be __________________________ (specify 3" or 2-1/4". Note for 2-1/4" spacing a blank space is recommended between gas outlets.) The panel shall be UL listed and shall incorporate the following features and components:
    1. Enclosure shall be a three-piece assembly consisting of a back box, device chassis and Fascia front trim. The back box shall be fabricated of 16 gauge galvanized steel in accordance with UL Standard 50, "Standard for Cabinets and Boxes" and shall be flush mounted, unless indicated otherwise, at the elevation shown on the plans. The back box depth shall not exceed 3-5/8". All internal electrical components shall be mounted on the galvanized steel chassis which bolts on to the back box. The front trim shall be made of heavy gauge aluminum with a clear anodized finish. The fascia will be fastened to the device chassis by nonmetallic end caps.

    2. The width of the console shall be of continuous length as required. Compartment dividers shall be manufactured out of 16 gauge steel and shall be installed to barrier off the compartments from the back of the box to the fascia. The back box shall be a depth and height adjustment by means of the adjustment mounting angles on each side. Knockouts, 1/2" to 3/4" in diameter, for conduit connections and piping shall be provided on top and bottom of back box. Separate low voltage wireways can be installed if required.

    3. The device chassis shall be manufactured out of 16 gauge galvanized steel and provide mounting support for mechanical or electrical devices. Mounting supports are to be mounted directly to the back box.

    4. The fascia will cover all device chassis mounting screws, seal off access to all components and give the console a clean secure appearance. The fascia shall fasten securely to the back box and be trimmed out with plastic end caps.

    5. The PSC manufacturer shall provide provisions only on the PSC for medical gas outlets, nurse call and alarm units which are to be supplied by others. The gas outlets shall be______________________(specify manufacturer) and the nurse call system shall be__________________________(specify manufacturer). Receptacles, switches, slide bottle brackets and coverplates will be provided by the PSC manufacturer as per plans.
    Wiring
    All components within the PSC panel shall be wired by the contractor using copper type wire in accordance with National Electrical Code. Separation shall be maintained between grounded, ungrounded and low voltage conductors.

    Approved Manufacturers
    This specification is based on equipment manufactured by PG LIFELINK. Products of other manufacturers will be considered provided they are equal in all respects and request for approval is submitted in writing to the engineer at least 10 days prior to the bid date.
